You definitely have to go with spicy on all items as the marinade is the standout feature
For me, it’s the best fried chicken I’ve had when combined with the garlic sauce. Popeye’s comes close second while KFC, Tazaj, Chicking and Chowking are all kinda meh

Al Baik is amazing. It is not overhyped whatsoever, it’s rated just fine (at present) imo. I think you would have rated Al Baik better if you had tried their Big Baik + if you had gotten everything spicy (regular/non-spicy is just not even half as good for me lol, for all items).

Here’s the backstory: For decades AL BAIK used to only exist in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (then Mecca and Medina, the 2 Muslim holy cities). They refused to expand, even though they were insanely popular. And they only sold chicken pieces and fries. Even in the 90s, it was 10 RIYALS ($2.50 USD) for an entire box.. 4 large pieces of chicken, fries and a bun…and UNLIMITED insanely delicious GARLIC SAUCE (Thom).. you had to ask them to give you more garlic, and they would.

The taste is not out of the world but it sure is value for money, especially the fish fillet.
Even carrefour and lulu fish fillet with fries is more expensive than Al Baik’s.
Same goes for the chicken; 3 piece chicken is over AED30 at KFC and Popeyes while 4 pieces with drink is under AED25 here.

In my opinion the Albaik in Dubai and the Albaik in Saudia Arabia have different tastes and looks, The chicken in Saudia is not that dark and alittle lighter. The taste of Albaik in Saudia is just different in a good way and is way better. It still surprises me that there is an Albaik outside Saudia Arabia, I mean Albaik is not located in every city of Saudia just mostly in Jeddah with 2-3 branches in Makkah and Medina
